Shari Carter

Welcome to MVCC! I’m so excited to have you join us for music-making fun. Music has always been a big part of my life. I took private voice lessons for over 5 years and spent 10 years singing with the Palouse Choral Society in Washington. For the past 8 years, I’ve been a member of the Morgan Community Choir and have served as the Soprano Section Leader for the Morgan Chamber Choir for 3 years. I also had the joy of teaching Kindergarten music at Mountain Green Elementary.
As a proud Morgan native, I love this community and wanted to bring more music into the lives of its children. That dream became a reality when I co-founded the Morgan Valley Children’s Choir with my mom, Kristine Sommers.
Before directing MVCC, I worked as a Cosmetologist for 25 years and now enjoy a career as a Real Estate Agent and Investor. I’m also a proud mom of five, with a wonderful daughter-in-law and a sweet grandson.
I truly believe there’s nothing more magical than watching kids light up with confidence, creativity, and joy through the power of music.
Kristine Sommers

Hello and Welcome! I guess you could say music is my life. I have sung with and led many choirs for 40 years! Directing children's choir's bring me the most joy and I am very excited to make music with you all. I have written 15 songs and published and recorded 10 of them. You can find them on the Lyrics of Light website.
I have 5 kids,16 grandkids, and 1 great-grandson. I've lived most of my life in Morgan and am happy to add the MVCC to the Morgan Community.

Although I'm a Wisconsin native, I consider Morgan Valley to be home and I'm so grateful to be a part of the MVCC! My husband and I have 4 awesome kids who enjoy a variety of things including sports, music, hunting, baking, and enjoying the outdoors, and raising backyard chickens. I started private vocal lessons and performing in musical theater beginning at age 6. My love for music and singing has continued my whole life, from participating in local and state honors choirs to my pursuit of a vocal performance degree at University of Wisconsin-Madison. I love to see the children in our community thriving in music and look forward to enjoying and learning right along side of them in the MVCC!
Kayli Sorensen

I have always loved music, especially singing! I was raised in a home filled with music and spent the majority of my growing-up years on stage, singing in various choirs and performing in theater productions. Now I’m a mom of six amazing children and strive to fill our home with music as well! When I’m not singing or involved in theater, I work with several hundred children every week as a P.E. Teacher, and am constantly amazed by their expressive and adventurous personalities. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing group of ladies dedicated to helping your children grow their talents and spread the magic of music to our beautiful community!

I have always loved music! I sang in choirs all throughout middle school and high school and even church choir! I have also loved playing the piano since I was 8 years old and have really enjoyed teaching piano lessons off and on for the last 24 years!
My daughter has been singing with MVCC for several years and loves it! I enjoyed watching them perform so much that I started working with the choir this year, accompanying them during rehearsals! I love helping the children learn to love music as much as I do!
My husband and I, along with our 2 awesome children, love calling Morgan our home! And it makes my heart so happy that we are raising our children in my childhood home, surrounded by family!
Kristalee Hawkes

My daughter and I love to sing and dance. I grew up dancing in my mother's dance studio. I have taken lessons my whole life and love to be on stage! When I'm not singing and dancing, I'm being a mom to 6 awesome kids. We have been heavily involved in the MVCC since it's beginnings. I love to choreograph the numbers and construct the performances for concerts.
